XDO Tech has managed to generate quite a lot of enthusiasm for its Pantera Pico, a mini-PC into which the OEM has managed to cram 4 USB type A ports, active cooling and an HDMI port for a 4K/UHD output. Now, this hype has been converted into the ability to smash the original goal of its Kickstarter campaign nearly 5 times over by now.

XDO Tech has seized on the current trend for mini-PCs, as the success of its new crowdfunding page has proven. The OEM points out that there is less and less need for a case of traditional desktop dimensions to get the best out of a, say, quad-core 2.7GHz CPU such as the Intel Celeron J4125 these days, and that the increasingly tiny solutions that can be developed instead might be ideal for the home office, home theater or perhaps even a light gaming set-up.

To this end, the Pantera Pico PC has been designed after the potentially familiar, adorable and, most importantly, portable little cube full of tech style, coming in at 2.63 x 2.63 x 2.1 inches (67 x 67 x 53 millimeters). It sports an impressive number of ports on one of its faces; then again, its single USB type C port is for charging only.

XDO has sought to set its take on the form-factor apart with an LED accent for its top edge and some funky color options for its CNC-milled aluminum housing. Now that the Pantera Pico PC has beaten its goal, and by nearly HKD$190,000 (~US$24,000) more than the $50,000 (~US$6,434) XDO was looking for, too, the OEM has thusly decided to add 4 more color options (pink, purple, rose-gold and gunmetal gray) to join the original 3 (red, blue or black).

The Pantera Pico PC currently starts at ~US$149 for a SKU with 4GB of RAM and 64GB of (user-expandable) storage, although another $30 or so gets you one with 8GB of RAM and a 256GB SSD.
