The LG G6 is currently receiving its Oreo update. This is an update to Android 8.0 and, considering how long it’s taken to be sent out, will likely be the only major update the last-gen flagship receives.

The LG G6 was released way back in February 2017 as LG’s flagship. Sadly, in typical LG fashion, the device failed to receive any major updates. Until now, that is, as LG G6  users on T-Mobile are finally receiving their Oreo updates.

The update comes as the H87220a build. Sadly, it’s only an update to Oreo 8.0 and not 8.1 as one would expect, which is quite the shame when you realize that Android P will be released next month. There’s also the fact that flagships released in the same period as the G6 have all received their Oreo updates since Q1 2018.

The update is a staged rollout, and there’s supposedly a limited daily quota. However, according to the source, starting July 30, users will be able to download the build freely.

At the moment, it remains unknown when the LG V20 will receive its update. The device had the honor of being the first to launch on Android Nougat but users have found themselves stuck on that version of the OS since then.
