For all the hype that Apple generates over the pricing of its premium iPhone X, it's easy to forget that there are some Android makers that have smartphones with even more eye watering price tags. Take for example the LG 30 Signature Edition, which was launched in December last year for US$1800, which was limited to just 300 units in its Korean home market. All of these sold out during the pre-order phase.
Fear not, however, as LG has another model in the works according to reports coming out of Korea. The next model will be based on the slightly improved LG V35 ThinQ and will be called the LG V35 Signature Edition. It too, is expected to made from scratch resistant ceramic, which will be its key defining physical feature along with a specially skinned version of Android. Storage is expected to be at least 256 GB while it will also be powered by Qualcomm's Snapdragon 845, the current high-end processor of choice for most flagship smartphones.
When it launches in the next couple of months, expect a price tag of around US$1800. This will put in the rarefied atmosphere enjoyed by the likes of the Huawei Mate RS Porsche Design and Oppo Find X Lamborghini Edition. Like those companies, LG is keen to create a brand presence that can allow it to better compete with Samsung and Apple for the high-end smartphone market share.
