Eve has finally made the successor to the Eve V available. However, the 2-in-1 effectively starts at US$1,449 with a keyboard and pen, and it will not begin shipping until Q3 2021 at the earliest. The Eve V 2021 packs some impressive specifications though, including two Thunderbolt 4 ports and a choice of Tiger Lake-U series processors.

Eve Devices has made its latest product available to pre-order, the Eve V 2021. The second-generation version of the Eve V has been in development for a while, and was formally announced in October. Hosting a pre-order period is not indicative of when the Eve V 2021 will ship, though. Eve Devices is asking people to place a US$300 deposit on the tablet, which starts at US$1,239. The company no longer includes a keyboard a pen or keyboard in the box, so these are now US$80 and US$130 additions. The latter rises to US$145 for a keyboard in anything other than US (ANSI).

US$1,449 is a steep starting price for a 2-in-1, especially from a company that has had as many problems as Eve Devices has. As we have previously reported, there have been persistent concerns about Eve's ability to fulfil orders, with a trip to r/eve revealing many unhappy customers. We should stress that r/eve is not representative of everyone's experiences with Eve. Additionally, Eve-Tech rebranded as Eve Distribution and signed a distribution contract with PCH International in February 2019, which appears to have resolved delivery issues. Nonetheless, it seems that Eve Distribution abandoned fulfilling orders placed with Eve-Tech and focussed its attention on new products.

Underpinning the Eve V 2021 will be either the Core i5-1135G7 or Core i7-1165G7. 16 GB or 32 GB of LPDDR4X RAM is on board too, as is 512 GB or 1 TB of NVMe storage. Eve has also included a 41.3 Wh battery, two Thunderbolt 4 ports, a third USB Type-C port, a microSD card/SIM slot and a 3.5 mm headphone jack. Additionally, the device has a 720p webcam and a fingerprint scanner embedded in the power button.

We hope that Eve Devices delivers the Eve V 2021 on time, but Q3 2021 is a long way off to lay down €300. Sadly, the company is already behind on fulfilling Spectrum orders, having delayed the shipping date of its monitors from December 2020 to the end of February 2021. Personally, we would wait until the Spectrum monitors begin shipping before placing a pre-order for the Eve V 2021.
