Missing Eve V refunds are reputed to exceed US$225,000
Eve Distribution is gearing to release the Spectrum monitor and the Eve V 2021, but concerns about refunds for unfulfilled Eve V orders remain. Konstantinos, co-founder of Eve Distribution and Eve-tech as it was formerly called, gave multiple reasons for what went wrong with the distribution of the Eve V in a lengthy blog post in July 2019, as we covered at the time. At the time, Konstantinos insisted that Eve Distribution would do the following in 'making things right' with customers:
We are aware of the people affected by the business struggles of the partner that previously operated the eve-tech.com web store. As we are moving to the new structure and launch new projects such as the monitor and headphones, we will make sure that their success will help these people. To maintain our reputation we are now working on the plan how to help out people affected by bad experience with the previous merchant.
A subsequent update to the blog post blamed Fortress Tech Distribution for all problems, which was incorporated in Hong Kong in 2016. Several posts on Reddit by Kirk Miller explain the links between Eve-tech and Fortress, should you wish to read more about the matter. For brevity, we shall not repeat the points contained in the posts but are worth reading, nonetheless.
According to Miller, over 90% of people he surveyed are awaiting a refund for Eve V tablets that did not arrive. Apparently, only five respondents have received a refund or a device from Eve Distribution, with the remaining 135 people still being out of pocket over three years later. Miller estimates that US$225,000 is owed to members of the r/evev subreddit alone, but reviews on Trustpilot are equally scathing.
The refund form for the original Eve V remains live, but it seems unlikely that any additional refunds will be forthcoming at this stage. Hopefully, Eve Distribution has learned from the original Eve V, but our experiences with the Spectrum monitor suggest otherwise. The company claims that the Spectrum monitor and Eve V 2021 will begin shipping in late February and Q3 2021, respectively. It remains to be seen if that will be the case, though.
Thanks to Kirk Miller for bringing the ongoing refund situation with original Eve V orders to our attention.
