Acer shared details on three new gaming monitors at CES 2021 today. The Nitro XV282K KV will be one of the first monitors to bring HDMI 2.1 to desktops, as well as 4K 144 Hz. The other monitors also offer high resolutions with high refresh rates, but they cost a pretty penny.

CES 2021 is in full swing, and Acer came out of the gates swinging with three new monitors. One of these will have HDMI 2.1, which allows users to hit 144 Hz at 4K.

The monitor generating the most buzz is the Nitro XV282K KV, a 28-inch 4K (3840x2160) IPS monitor with a 144 Hz refresh rate that was announced back in September 2020. Thanks to its two HDMI 2.1 ports, the monitor can pump out 4K at 144 Hz (when connected to an HDMI 2.1-compatible graphics card or console). The XV282K KV also sports a DisplayPort 1.4, four USB 3.1 Gen 1 (5 Gbps) Type-A ports, an upstream USB 3.1 Gen 1 Type-B port, and a USB-C with 65 Watt power delivery. The monitor supports Freesync Premium as well. The display is HDR600 compliant, meaning that it should hit between 550-600 nits of brightness.

The Nitro XV282K KV will be one of the only HDMI 2.1 displays when it launches. There are 4K 144 Hz monitors with HDMI 2.1 coming from other big names like Asus and ViewSonic, but their release dates aren’t nailed down yet. The Eve Spectrum is due to launch at the end of February, but there’s no telling if Eve will be able to manufacture ample supply. The Acer Nitro XV282K KV may be the first widely available HDMI 2.1 monitor when it launches in May.

Acer also showed off the Predator XB273U NX, a 27-inch QHD IPS monitor with a 240 Hz refresh rate and a 0.5 ms response time. Acer says this monitor is overclockable to 275 Hz and is HDR400 compliant. While not as bright as the XV282K KV, it should still hit around 400 nits, which is brighter than the typical 300 cd/m2 of most consumer displays. This display has two HDMI 2.0 ports, a single DisplayPort 1.4, three USB 3.1 Gen 1 Type-A ports, one USB 2.0 Type-A port, and a single upstream USB-B port.

The last monitor on Acer’s docket is the monstrous 31.5-inch 4K IPS Predator XB323QK NV. This behemoth sports a 144 Hz refresh rate and is HDR400 compliant and G-sync compatible.

These three monitors will all launch in May. The Nitro XV282K KV launches at US$899, the Predator XB273U NX starts at $1099, and the Predator XB323QK NV is marked at $1199.
