It has been nearly two months since 8BitDo announced the Pro 3 Bluetooth controller, and about a month since it has been available to buy. The controller comes in three colors, but a listing has revealed a fourth color that is yet to be announced.
Currently, the 8BitDo Pro 3 is available in G Classic, Gray, and Purple. The colors are inspired by three classic consoles — the Nintendo Game Boy, Sony PlayStation, and Nintendo GameCube. However, it seems they are about to be joined by a fourth color, which we have spotted on Amazon.
According to an Amazon listing for the 8BitDo Pro 3, there's an Orange color option. However, this variant doesn't have an image and is currently listed as unavailable, which isn't surprising since it is yet to be released. This particular listing is by Aknes, an official partner of 8BitDo, which makes it more credible.
8BitDo isn't new to releasing new color options, including special editions of its controllers, so this isn't unusual. However, a new color so early in the lifecycle of a controller is uncommon, although exciting. The new color is expected to have the same $69.99 price tag as the other color options.
However, if it is a special edition tied to a video game, then a higher price tag is expected. A perfect example is the 8BitDo Ultimate 2 Wireless Wuchang Fallen Feathers Edition, which costs $64.99 on Amazon, $5 more than the standard version, which comes in Black, Green, Purple, and White.
We expect the new color to be announced soon, likely alongside the 8BitDo Ultimate 2 Honkai: Star Rail edition, which it plans to unveil on September 12.
