Suunto has launched the Race 2 smartwatch for trail runners. The smartwatch comes with all the expected basics, such as heart rate, sleep, and activity tracking, along with over 115 sport modes and Suunto Coach workout insights.
Global satellite maps with terrain and elevation information can be loaded into its 32 GB of storage. Waypoints can be set and points of interest can be marked. The watch provides wearers with altimeter, barometer, and thermometer readings as well.
The watch is rated by Suunto for up to 55 hours of continuous use while tracking the wearer by dual-band GPS during lengthy runs, and up to 22 days during normal timekeeping use.
The 49mm (1.93 in.) round case is made from polyamide reinforced with glass fibers. A 1.5-inch (3.81 cm), 2,000-nit LTPO AMOLED display with a resolution of 466 × 466 pixels sits behind a protective sapphire crystal. The watch is rated to a depth of 100 m (328 ft.) underwater and for an operating temperature of -20° C to +55° C (-5° F to +130° F).
The bezel is made of stainless steel while the band is made of soft silicone. The height of the watch is 12.5 mm (0.49 in.), and its weight is 76 g (2.68 oz.). A titanium model is also available, weighing 65 g (2.29 oz.).
The Suunto Race 2 has an MSRP of $499 for the stainless steel models in all black, wave blue, coral orange, and feather gray colorways. The titanium model comes in titanium black or titanium trail colorways for an MSRP of $599. All models are available on Amazon.
