It looks like another State of Play livestream is coming and it might bring some exciting reveals and announcements. The last stream was a gameplay deep dive for Ghost of Yotei hosted on July 10 and the next one is expected towards the end of September. The information comes from an industry insider who is confident about the event but is unsure if Sony will share an update on the possibly cancelled Fairgames.
Jeff Grubb, on the latest Giant Bomb video (linked below), spoke about Fairgames and where it stands currently. He mentioned that Sony is planning on hosting a State of Play event or a showcase for the end of September (around the 20 minute mark). Grubb is confident that there will be an event around that time but is uncertain if Fairgames will be included in the announcements. Nevertheless, the upcoming State of Play doesn’t seem to be dedicated to a single game like the Ghost of Yotei or Borderlands 4 streams.
Fans on Reddit are speculating that the event could bring updates on the new God of War project that has been in the news lately. There could also be updates on the rumored Wolverine game that is said to be in development at Insomniac as a PS5 exclusive. Some believe Sony will show off gameplay for Saros, the next game by Housemarque, the studio behind Returnal.
As for Fairgames, it was recently reported that the multiplayer extraction shooter had been cancelled. This information, however, turned out to be false and the gaming industry analyst who shared the cancelation news clarified that he misspoke and doesn’t know where the game stands.
That being said, Sony has not shared any information on an upcoming State of Play event so take this news with a grain of salt.
