Some MacBook Pro orders are delayed by nearly two months
Apple has started selling the MacBook Pro 14 and MacBook Pro 16, having unveiled the pair earlier this month. While many pre-orders should be arriving today, two problems are preventing some from being delivered. Reportedly, UPS has informed numerous people of a 'mechanical failure' that is delaying matters somewhat.
UPS has not clarified what has caused the mechanical failure, although it has told more than one person that delivery dates will now depend 'on the conditions on the ground'. Presumably, UPS has encountered an issue with at least one of its aircraft that should have been transporting pre-orders from China.
Theoretically, this issue will only result in a delay of a few days. However, Apple has pushed some delivery dates from October to mid-December, as the embedded image below shows. Somehow, we doubt that a delay of nearly two months is anything to do with UPS. The fact that long delays have beset only custom configurations reinforces this.
Hence, it seems that the first MacBook Pro 14 and MacBook Pro 16 units have suffered two delays in reaching people. We will update this article if Apple or UPS comments on the matter.
