For years, Samsung has stuck with its plain brick phone design for the Galaxy S series of phones and the Galaxy S25 series was no different. With reports of the company replacing the Plus variant with an Edge model for the Galaxy S26 series, the new phone seems to be getting a more drastic design change. The other two models, however, will likely see minor design tweaks.
From the single image of alleged dummy units for the Galaxy S26 series shared by Sony Dickson on X, it seems like Samsung is going the iPhone 17 series route, at least for its Galaxy S26 Edge. There is a camera bar or island that spans across the entire width of the phone, just like the rumored iPhone 17 models. Two cameras are placed vertically along the left edge with a flash cutout next to them. The rest of the island is bare.
As for the Galaxy S26/Galaxy S26 Pro and Galaxy S26 Ultra, instead of the individual camera cutouts, there is a vertical camera bar that houses the three sensors. The Galaxy S26 Ultra has two more cameras alongside the bar, flanking the flash.
Furthermore, all three dummies have a circular indentation where the wireless charging coil typically sits. Some commentors suspect it could be an indication of MagSafe coming to the Galaxy 26 series. Google brought its Pixel Snap ecosystem with the Pixel 10 series thanks to internal magnets so it won’t be surprising if Samsung does the same.
Samsung, as per its usual timeline, is expected to unveil the Galaxy S26 series in January next year. It just unveiled the Galaxy S25 FE, the Galaxy Tab S11, and Galaxy Tab S11 Ultra at its Galaxy event today, September 4.
