Samsung Galaxy Fit3 form-factor update revealed ahead of launch
Samsung now finally seems ready to launch the third-gen Galaxy Fit wearable, having gotten the device through testing by the Federal Communications Commission (FCC) ahead of this event. If the fitness tracker has something new to help it compete with rivals such as the Xiaomi Band 8, it is not immediately apparent from this leak, however. Then again, it may at least look up to date on its reveal.
It has now been nearly 3 years since Samsung released a new fitness tracker, thereby giving the impression that it had abandoned the category in favor of the more elaborate, full-featured Galaxy Watch series instead. However, there is now evidence that the Galaxy Fit3 is on the way after all.
The allegedly upcoming device may be the one registered by Samsung as the SM-R390 with the FCC. The regulator has kindly disclosed a product schematic that clearly shows the device has taken on a new form factor that could almost make the Fit3 look like a square-faced smartwatch compared to its long thin forebear.
Nevertheless, the new chassis seems to have been certified to use Bluetooth and nothing else thus far, despite the South Korean giant's self-hyped role as a smart connected ecosystem OEM. Therefore, it is possible that the next Galaxy Fit might look more than a little underwhelming next to other products, even the SmartTag2 and its potential for advanced UWB trickery.

I became a professional writer and editor shortly after graduation. My degrees are in biomedical sciences; however, they led to some experience in the biotech area, which convinced me of its potential to revolutionize our health, environment and lives in general. This developed into an all-consuming interest in more aspects of tech over time: I can never write enough on the latest electronics, gadgets and innovations. My other interests include imaging, astronomy, and streaming all the things. Oh, and coffee.
