An upgrade for Samsung's Galaxy A53 5G with a more flagship-like design compared to its predecessor is closer to reality than ever before. A device with a model number conforming to earlier "A54" leaks has shown up on the Federal Communications Commission (FCC) database, seeming to confirm various decent mid-range specs for a soon-to-launch Android smartphone in the process.

The Galaxy A54 5G might join the new A14 in adopting the S22 Ultra-esque look of its generation soon. Then again, the former is said to debut as the more premium Android device of the 2, something potentially borne out in what might be its FCC registration.

The new and potentially definitive leak approves the Samsung SM-A546E/DS for sale in markets such as the United States as a 5G smartphone. It is also now certified to use Wi-Fi 6 in addition to Bluetooth and NFC.

The probable Galaxy A54's FCC testing also confirms the validity of some rumors circulating around the allegedly triple rear camera device, including the absence of a headphone jack and a battery that, while updated compare to that of the A53 5G, remains compatible with Samsung's standard EP-TA800 25W type-C power brick.

On that note, there is no mention of wireless charging for this SM-A546. It also lacks for an official launch date at present; Samsung may wait until after its major Galaxy Unpacked event to present this probably more affordable alternative to a new Galaxy S23-series device.
