There may not be a Snapdragon variant of the Galaxy Z Flip7 after all since a new firmware leak suggests an Exynos 2500 powered model for the US market. Initial reports suggested that the US will see the Snapdragon 8 Elite model and the Exynos 2500 variant for the Korean market.

There have been contradictory reports about the SoC present in the upcoming Galaxy Z Flip7. Some have claimed that the global variant will have a Snapdragon flagship SoC and the Korean variant will feature an Exynos chip. According to the latest leak, it looks like the US will see an Exynos SoC powered Galaxy Z Flip7 after all.

The information comes from a writer for Smartprix and GizmoChina (as per the bio on X) who found that the latest firmware for the Galaxy Z Flip7 lists a processor with the codename “S5E9955” which is believed to be the Exynos 2500. The firmware also mentions “USA” suggesting that at least the US variant of the phone will come with the Exynos chip.

Samsung typically keeps its Snapdragon chips for the US market but it looks like the Korean tech giant wants to use its own chip this time. The last phone that launched in the US with an Exynos chip was the Galaxy S24 FE (buy on Amazon) in October 2024. It was powered by the Exynos 2400e.

It could be that Samsung does not want to take any chances with the phone overheating with the Snapdragon 8 Elite SoC, which was recently reported to be powering the US version of the phone. As seen with the Galaxy S25 Edge (via MrMobile on YouTube), the SoC is hard to keep cool in slim smartphones. However, it is unclear if the Exynos 2500 will run cooler. It is also unclear if there will even be a Snapdragon 8 Elite variant of the Galaxy Z Flip7 at all.

We won’t have to wait long to find out since Samsung is expected to unveil the next generation of foldables in July. As the launch date approaches, more information about the phones should be revealed.
