Precision 3280 CFF: Dell announces launch date for workstation-grade mini-PC
Dell has revealed new details about a mini-PC that it showcased last month during MWC 2024 in Barcelona. To recap, the company billed the Precision 3280 Compact Form Factor (CFF) as the 'world's smallest workstation that supports Tensor Core GPUs', which is to say that it features professional discrete graphics cards rather than consumer options from NVIDIA's GTX or RTX families.
Specifically, the Precision 3280 CFF has a pair of PCIe x8 slots that accept graphics cards like the T400, T1000, RTX 2000 or RTX 4000. Also, Dell plans to offer the mini-PC with 14th Gen Intel Core processors that have up to 80 W TDP, all within a 206 x 178 x 79 mm case size. Moreover, the Precision 3280 CFF contains the following ports:
- 1x 3.5 mm jack
- 1x Configurable port (HDMI 2.1/DisplayPort 1.4a/USB Type-C/VGA)
- 3x DisplayPort 1.4a
- 1x RJ45 Ethernet
- 2x USB 3.2 Gen 1 Type-A (5 Gbps)
- 5x USB 3.2 Gen 2 Type-A (10 Gbps)
- 1x USB 3.2 Gen 2 (20 Gbps)
Furthermore, the mini-PC has two M.2 2280 slots that support PCIe Gen 4 NVMe SSDs and two SO-DIMM slots for up to 64 GB of DDR5-5600 EEC RAM running in dual-channel mode. The Precision 3280 CFF will go on sale on March 26, presumably first in the US. Unfortunately, pricing and full availability remain unknown for now.
