POCO makes the M2 Pro official with Wi-Fi and Bluetooth certifications
The Xiaomi brand POCO is currently rumored to have a phone called the M2 Pro in the works. Now, new documentation issued by the Bluetooth Special Interest Group (SIG) and Wi-Fi Alliance have confirmed this. These new official leaks may debunk the theory that it is a completely new device, however.
The POCO brand came back this year, although its well-received Pocophone F1's new generation is a rebranded Redmi K30 Pro rather than an original product as before. It has also started a new line of phones, the Xs, with an incongrously-named 2 variant. Again, this phone is the same as the Redmi K30.
Now, it appears POCO has another M line in the works. Again, its nomenclature will run before it can walk with an inaugural 2 Pro. This phone is thought to launch with the Snapdragon 720G SoC. However, according to its new approval to use Bluetooth 5.0, it seems it may not come in a brand-new chassis as previously thought.
The Bluetooth SIG has listed this phone alongside the Redmi Note 9 Pro, as well as the Note 9s and 9 Pro Max, which are all derivatives of this first device that run on the 720G. Therefore, it seems the M2 Pro could be just another variant of this Note series. On the other hand, there is still scope for POCO-specific differences, which may include cameras as with the Pro Max.

I became a professional writer and editor shortly after graduation. My degrees are in biomedical sciences; however, they led to some experience in the biotech area, which convinced me of its potential to revolutionize our health, environment and lives in general. This developed into an all-consuming interest in more aspects of tech over time: I can never write enough on the latest electronics, gadgets and innovations. My other interests include imaging, astronomy, and streaming all the things. Oh, and coffee.
