OnePlus 9 5G live images and specs leaked: Snapdragon 888, 120 HZ refresh rate, and UltraShot branding on the camera bump

OnePlus 9 live images have been acquired and posted by PhoneArena, and although the device appears to be a pre-production model, it still gives a clear indication of what fans can expect when the OnePlus 9 range is possibly launched in March 2021. The smartphone in the live photos has the model number LE2117, which was previously linked with the OnePlus 9 Pro, but this is apparently just the regular variant of the upcoming flagship on display here.

As can be seen in the images (see below), the OnePlus 9 5G prototype has a large camera bump for the rear-facing main camera system, which reveals three lenses and a flash. UltraShot branding is also noticeable and there is a logo on the back that is not typically used by OnePlus with its smartphones. However, PhoneArena explains this anomaly as the company using a different logo for prototype phones.

The front of the OnePlus 9 5G in this series of real-world photos shows a punch-hole cutout for the selfie camera in the top left-hand corner, and a specs leak (provided via settings information) states that the 6.55-inch display has a resolution of 2400x1080, 20:9 aspect ratio, and it can offer a fast refresh rate of 120 Hz. The usual hardware buttons can be seen on the metal frame, and there is a removable SIM card tray and a seal that points to some water-resistance level.

According to the revealed key specs, this particular OnePlus 9 5G smartphone has 8 GB RAM and 128 GB storage, although it’s very likely there will be additional configurations offered to shoppers. Android 11 is onboard, and “lahaina” is in charge of processes, with the Hawaiian getaway being the codename for the Qualcomm Snapdragon 888 SoC. Oddly, the front camera is shown as 4 MP and the back camera is shown as 12 MP, but these are more likely going to be 16 MP and 48 MP, respectively, with the final production model of the OnePlus 9.
