The Leica Lux iPhone app offers photographers numerous options for extensively customizing the appearance of their photos, ranging from the classic Leica Looks, the simulation of popular Leica M lenses to the brand new Artist Looks, which are designed to simulate the style of well-known photographers.
The first of these is a filter inspired by the photos of British photographer Greg Williams. This Artist Look is characterized by black and white photos with high contrast and visible image noise, which is reminiscent of classic Kodak Tri-X 400 film. According to Leica's marketing, this look emphasizes authenticity, warmth and intimacy, avoiding excessive post-processing. The look is also designed to automatically adapt to different lighting conditions.
Leica emphasizes that the look was developed in close collaboration with Greg Williams. Photographers who want to use this look more often can save it as a favorite in the Leica Lux App. In the future, this look will also be available in the Leica Photos app, allowing it to be used with selected Leica cameras such as the Leica Q3.
The Greg Williams Artist Look is available for all users of the Leica Lux iPhone app following the update to version 1.7. The app is available in the App Store, but requires a subscription, which costs either $6.99 per month or $69.99 per year – those opting for the annual subscription save around $14 per year. The Leica Lux app is available exclusively for Apple iPhones such as the iPhone 16.
