Nvidia has announced the mobile versions of its Ada Lovelace-based RTX 4000 graphics cards. The GeForce RTX 4070, RTX 4060 and RTX 4050 will supposedly deliver GeForce RTX 3080-class performance while consuming a third of the power. Gaming laptops featuring the GPUs will be available starting February 22 at US$999.

While the Nvidia GeForce RTX 4090 and GeForce RTX 4080 graphics cards will be featured in most spec sheets and top all performance charts, Nvidia's real bread and butter will lie in its lower-end siblings, namely the GeForce RTX 4070, GeForce RTX 4060 and GeForce RTX 4050. Nvidia claims the three mid-range GPUs can perform on par with the last-gen GeForce RTX 3080 mobile while consuming a third of the power.

Starting with the GeForce RTX 4070 mobile, one gets 8 GB GDDR6 VRAM on a 128-bit bus, 4,608 CUDA cores, a boost clock of up to 2.1 GHz, and a TGP of up to 115 Watts. Nvidia hasn't mentioned its GPU, but a previous leak said it would pack an AD106 chip.

Next up, the GeForce RTX 4060 sports identical VRAM and TGP specs as the GeForce RTX 4070, but lowers the CUDA core count to 3,072, presumably due to it using an AD107 GPU. This allows the boost clocked to be upped to 2.3 GHz.

That leaves us with the Nvidia GeForce RTX 4050. While it increases the amount of VRAM to 6 GB GDDR6 (vs the RTX 3050), it is on a 96-bit bus, greatly hindering the total memory bandwidth. Other specs include a TGP of up to 115 Watts, 2,056 CUDA cores, and likely an AD107 GPU.

The GeForce RTX 4070, RTX 4060 and RTX 4050 laptop versions all come with Ada Lovelace-exclusive features such as DLSS 3.0, NVENC dual AV1 encoders and Nvidia RTX Remix. Laptops running the graphics cards will be purchasable on February 22 starting at US$999. Some of the OEMs include Acer, Alienware, ASUS, Dell, Gigabyte, HP, Lenovo, MSI, Razer and Samsung.
