Nothing phone (1) Android 13 open beta program begins to accept registrations
Carl Pei's new mobile tech OEM has now announced that the next major software update for its phone (1) will be Nothing OS 1.5 based on Android 13. Then again, the upgrade is not quite ready for prime-time yet: the company has in fact now confirmed that it is at the open beta stage of testing.
This means that interested phone (1) owners can apply for a download link to install this preliminary Nothing OS version onto their devices, thus getting a sneak peek as to how Android 13 will change the UI and UX on their Snapdragon 778G+-powered, Glyph-lit handset ahead of the general population.
However, as with most public betas, there are some risks involved. Nothing has already announced that it will accept no liability for any "loss" incurred as a result of the use of the in-development software, which may include broken features, functions or apps.
In fact, Nothing has not specified whether the v1.5 beta is conducive to normal daily smartphone use yet, although it does advise that a potential program member creates a back-up beforehand.
Users willing to take these risks to be an early Nothing OS 1.5 adopter can apply via the company's online form from now, and may gain access to the new build as early as mid-December 2022.
