The Xiaomi Mijia Desktop Water Purifier Cold Boiled Water Edition has launched in China. This smart home device is designed to provide hot or cold water on tap, be that in your kitchen, office or bedroom.
Xiaomi’s new Mijia Desktop Water Purifier is fitted with a six-stage reverse osmosis (RO) filter, said to remove up to 99.9% of lead, 99.8% of cadmium, and 99.0% of residual chlorine. Plus, the water can be heated to 100°C (212°F) and immediately cooled to room temperature; this step is said to provide further water purification. On top of this, the water tank has UV light, which offers antibacterial properties.
Alongside the cooled water, the purifier offers hot or warm water, at temperatures ranging from 40 to 95°C (104 to 204°F). Another customization option is the volume of water dispensed. The machine has an NFC reader that can be used to trigger customized water dispensing temperatures and volumes. It comes with an NFC sticker which can be placed on the bottom of a chosen cup.
The Desktop Water Purifier has a 4L clean water tank and a 1.8L wastewater tank, with Xiaomi claiming that there is no backflow. This water purifier features an integrated 5-inch TFT large color screen and can be remotely controlled through the Xiaomi Mijia app. Here, you can also view the remaining life of the filter element. The desktop machine measures 182 x 455 x 403 mm (~7.2 x 17.9 x 15.9 inches). In China, the Xiaomi Mijia Desktop Water Purifier Cold Boiled Water Edition retails for CNY 2,999 (~$418).
