AMD might have some good news for gamers who are waiting for next-gen mid-range GPUs to drop. A rumor posted on a Chinese forum alleges that AMD is looking to price the RX 9070 and 9070 XT quite competitively.

With each passing day and every new leak, the RX 9070 and the RX 9070 XT seem more and more impressive. Whether it is the reported RTX 4080-beating performance or the much-improved ray tracing, the RX 9070 and RX 9070 XT look to have the potential to dominate the mid-range segment this time around.

Assuming the projected performance pans out, the only concern then is the pricing. While AMD has stated that the RX 9070 XT will not be priced like an RX 7900 XT, the company has yet to actually reveal the exact figures for either the RX 9070 or the RX 9070 XT. New information reported first by ITHome now alleges positive news regarding the pricing of the RX 9070 and the RX 9070 XT.

RX 9070 and RX 9070 XT prices could be very attractive

Per ITHome, AMD is pricing the RX 9070/XT rather aggressively. Termed “very sharp” by the original source, the RX 9070/XT MSRP is not only going to give a tough time to the upcoming Nvidia RTX 5070 and 5070 Ti but also the company’s current cards like the RX 7800 XT. For this reason, AMD is seemingly discontinuing the production of the RX 7800 XT in January, many months earlier than the original plan of Q3 2025.

The question now becomes: What kind of pricing can we expect for the RX 9070 cards?

Considering that you can currently buy an RX 7800 XT for just around $520, we can expect a price of $500 or lower for the RX 9070. In the case of the RX 9070 XT, a price of $600 to $650 seems reasonable since AMD has denied ever considering an MSRP of $899 for the card.

Moreover, if the RX 9070 and the 9070 XT are priced at $500 and $650, the RTX 5070 and 5070 Ti will be more expensive by $50 and $100, respectively. This, combined with an expected performance deficit, would put the RTX 5070/Ti in quite a tough spot, especially since the RTX 5070 Ti is rumored to also suffer from limited launch stock.

That said, we can’t take these reports at face value, as past GPU launches have shown that AMD/Nvidia can change the MSRPs of their cards at the last minute.
