Lenovo's pocket-sized ChromeOS mini PC Chromebox Micro becomes available for purchase
The Lenovo Chromebox Micro has hit the shelves and is now available for purchase from different online retailers. Although it’s listed as an out-of-stock item in most of these stores, you can backorder it from CDW at a current price of $243.99. Walmart seems to have it ready to ship, but the price of the ChromeOS mini PC at that online store is $361.10.
Regarding the unit itself, it’s Lenovo’s latest attempt at offering a pocket-sized mini PC after the IdeaCentre Mini. As described in the official press release, the Chromebox Micro lives up to its name, having roughly the same height and width as the Samsung Galaxy S24 Ultra (512 GB curr. $1273.99 on Amazon). To be specific, it measures 162 x 79 mm, but yes, it’s a bit thicker, coming in with a 20 mm chassis depth.
Now, while it’s phone-sized, the Chromebox Micro has a modern processor under the hood, the Intel Celeron N4500. Even though this choice of CPU doesn’t make it a powerful mini PC capable of running AAA games, it can handle all the tasks that Lenovo designed it for. That would be to act like a portable computer for media, digital signage, video conferencing, and other less hardware-demanding tasks.
This ChromeOS computer even has a port configuration similar to a full-fledged Chromebook. Among all, the mini PC has two USB Type-C, two USB Type-A, one HDMI, and one RJ45 Ethernet. Lenovo also says that the Chromebox Micro is capable of offering dual 4K display output.
For wireless connectivity, the Lenovo Chromebox Micro features WiFi 6 and Bluetooth 5.1. Due to the low-power nature of this ChromeOS mini PC, you can easily power it with compact 45W or 65W bricks. Also, the computer can be mounted on the back of a monitor, allowing you to easily create a sleek setup.
