Huawei has already updated 65 devices to HarmonyOS 2.0
Huawei has updated its Weibo followers on the rollout of HarmonyOS 2.0, its latest OS. HarmonyOS 2.0 replaces EMUI on smartphones and Lite OS on smartwatches, albeit without Google Mobile Services (GMS). According to a post, HarmonyOS 2.0 has now reached over 65 Huawei and Honor devices, including all recent Mate and P series flagships.
Huawei hopes to bring HarmonyOS 2.0 to over 100 devices though, and as far back as the Mate 9 or P10. There is no strict timeline by when these older devices will receive HarmonyOS 2.0, unfortunately. So far, Huawei has stated that it aims to finish upgrading devices to HarmonyOS 2.0 by mid-2022.
Similarly, there is no concrete timetable for the release of HarmonyOS 2.0 globally. Presumably, the OS will arrive after Huawei has upgraded most devices in China, as was the case with EMUI 12.5. Hence, we imagine that EMUI 12.5 will remain Huawei's primary smartphone OS globally until the end of the year at the earliest.
