The launch of the Magic V5 is still over a week away. Nonetheless, dozens of images and prospective specifications have now emerged online. For reference, their appearance coincides with the publication of an official Magic V5 promotional video, which we have embedded below.
Ultimately, the video does not reveal new details about Honor's 8.8 mm-thick and 217 g foldable. Hands-on images showcase some of their visual changes from last year's Magic V3 (curr. $1,600 on Amazon), though. For example, the Magic V5 appears to have flat sides than its predecessor in a continuation of the trend set by other recent foldables.
Unfortunately, Honor has persisted with comparatively thick inner bezels, unlike Samsung or Vivo. With that being said, Honor's foldable display appears set to grow from 7.92 to 7.95 inches while maintaining a 2K resolution and a 120 Hz refresh rate. Meanwhile, the already large 6.43-inch cover display from the Magic V3 will expand by 0.2 inches to 6.45 inches diagonally.
On top of that, the Magic V5 is rumoured to combine Qualcomm's Snapdragon 8 Elite Leading Version chipset with up to 16 GB of LPDDR5X RAM, 1 TB of UFS 4.1 storage and a circa 6,100 mAh battery. Talk of an upgrade to 80 W charging may have been wide of the mark, though.
At this stage, it seems that Honor has installed a new periscope telephoto camera, too. There is some confusion about the exact sensor being used at this stage, though. For the time being, the likes of Digital Chat Station believe that the Magic V5 will deliver 13 mm to 70 mm equivalent focla lengths with f/1.6-f/2.5 apertures.
