New features that have arrived with the Garmin Forerunner 570 and Forerunner 970 smartwatches will be rolled out to other models. DC Rainmaker reports that Garmin has confirmed which wearables should see features like Evening Report and Running Tolerance in future updates. While many customers will be disappointed, it could make one 2024 model more appealing to buyers.

Garmin has confirmed which existing smartwatches will receive the new features that arrived with the Forerunner 570 and Forerunner 970. These latest wearables launched globally on May 21st, with prices starting from $549.99 (Amazon).

In a recent report, DC Rainmaker revealed that they had questioned Garmin about its new features like Running tolerance, Running economy and Evening Report. According to a statement from Garmin, it is planning to bring these latest tools to the Fenix 8 series, Enduro 3 and Tactix 8 smartwatches in future software updates.

This suggests that users of other recently released models like the Instinct 3, Instinct E and vivoactive 6 smartwatches will not receive these features. Other notable absences from this list are the Fenix 7 and Epix Pro. However, these models have recently gained other features like Breathing Variations and a Rucking activity.

When the Garmin Fenix 8, Enduro 3 and Tactix 8 smartwatches could gain these new features remains to be seen. It is also worth noting that the Garmin Fenix 8 (47 mm AMOLED Slate Gray with Black Silicone Band) smartwatch is currently available at Amazon US for $789.99, making it only $40 more expensive than the Forerunner 970. Given that it is highly likely that the Fenix 8 will gain the new features included with the Forerunner 970, prospective customers may want to consider this slightly older model.
