AMD's upcoming high-end laptop silicon, codenamed Strix Halo, has shown up on Geekbench again. This time, it is the top-spec AMD Ryzen AI Max+ Pro 395, complete with 16 Zen 5 CPU cores and what looks like a 40 CU RDNA 3.5 GPU.

If a recent rumour is accurate, AMD will launch its all-Zen 5 core powered Strix Halo line of laptop chips at CES 2025. A previous leak said they'd come with the Ryzen AI Max branding to differentiate them from regular Strix Point CPUs. A new Geekbench listing effectively confirms it and sheds light on some key specs of a new Strix Halo SKU. Last time, we got to see the penultimate Ryzen AI Max 390 in action. Now, we get to see its flagship counterpart.

The 16-core Strix Halo CPU has shown up on the benchmarking platform under the AMD Ryzen AI Max+ Pro 395. The 'Pro' in between suggests this is earmarked for enterprise devices. Whether or not a non-Pro variant launches remains to be seen. This is clearly not a production-ready sample, as confirmed by its 4.4 GHz boost clock. The listing makes it apparent the system was an AMD testing rig and not a laptop ready to hit shelves.

However, the Ryzen AI Max+ Pro 395's 40 CU Radeon 8060S (or so it is called by an earlier leak) GPU shines in Geekbench's Vulkan benchmark, where it scores 67,004 points. That sits in between the Nvidia GeForce RTX 4060 (63,264) and RTX 4070 (73,707), which is about where it was expected to lie. We can expect it to perform closer to the latter with subsequent firmware and driver updates. It probably won't be as impressive in gaming because it is clearly geared towards more enterprise-grade applications.
