Civilization 6 is one of the most popular strategy games of all time. No wonder that publisher 2K Games has not released a sequel in 8 years. Instead, players have been able to enjoy a whole host of DLCs - 15 in total. But the more DLCs are released for Civilization 6, the deeper gamers have to dig into their pockets to get their hands on the game. If this has always been too expensive for you, you now have the perfect opportunity on Steam. The Platinum Edition, which includes the main game and 8 DLCs, is currently being sold on Steam with a 91 percent discount for around 15 euros. Normally the price is around 168 euros. It is not known how long the offer will last.
From antiquity to the information age
In Civilization 6, players guide their civilization through different eras of human history - from antiquity to the modern age. Gamers choose from various historical leaders, such as Alexander the Great, Cleopatra or Barbarossa - each with unique bonuses, units and buildings. By building cities, researching technologies, promoting culture, founding religions and waging wars or diplomatic relations, players can create a thriving civilization. Unique to Civ 6 are city districts, which must be strategically placed on the map and provide specific advantages. Players must make smart decisions regarding politics, military strategy, science development and cultural growth to achieve one of several victory conditions and write the history of their civilization.
8 DLCs in the Platinum Edition
The 91 percent discounted Platinum Edition of Civ 6 includes the following DLCs in addition to the main game:
- Rise and Fall (major DLC): Introduces a loyalty system that affects the stability of cities, and adds eras and era points that determine the rise and fall of civilizations throughout history. New leaders, civilizations, wonders and an improved alliance system expand the strategic options.
- Gathering Storm (major DLC): Expands the game to include environmental and climate effects in addition to new technologies, projects, leaders and civilizations.
- Vikings Scenario Pack (small DLC): A scenario in which players act as Viking tribe leaders to dominate Europe through conquest, trade or glory. It also adds new natural wonders and city-states based on the Viking civilization.
- Poland Civilization including Scenario Pack (small DLC): Introduces Poland under the leadership of Jadwiga, with the ability to claim territories through culture. The scenario "The Legacy of the Black Army" lets players replay historical events.
- Australia Civilization including Scenario Pack (small DLC): Introduces Australia under the leadership of John Curtin, specializing in attractive coastal locations and a new district system. The "Outback Tycoon" scenario focuses on economic growth and resource management.
- Khmer and Indonesia Civilization including Scenario Pack (small DLC): Adds the Khmer under Jayavarman VII and Indonesia under Gitarja as playable civilizations. Both civilizations bring unique abilities that focus on religion and maritime dominance.
- Persia and Macedon Civilization including Scenario Pack (small DLC): This pack adds Persia under Cyrus II and Macedon under Alexander the Great, both with a focus on conquest and rapid expansion. The scenario "The Conquests of Alexander" challenges players to build an empire in a short time.
- Nubia Civilization including Scenario Pack (small DLC): Introduces Nubia under Amanitore, a civilization specializing in archers and rapid district building. The scenario "The Gift of the Nile" focuses on building a powerful civilization on the Nile.
