Battle of the bands heats up as leaked Huawei Band 4 Pro render shows off colorful options
A wealth of activity trackers and smart bands is starting to appear, just in time for the major Holiday-related sales. The latest band on the radar (image below) comes from Huawei and is a sequel to the Chinese manufacturer’s Band 3 Pro. That latter waterproof feature-laden tracker can be purchased for £47.99 (~US$62), which is a reduction from the recommended price of £79.99 (~US$103). The Huawei Band 4 Pro will be likely priced at a similar premium level, for a band anyway.
There is a lot of competition in the smart band space at the moment, even if some of it comes from Huawei’s own sub-brand: The Honor Band 5 did reasonably well in our review, although it struggled with accuracy. There’s also the Xiaomi Mi Band 4 that offers an attractive price-performance ratio, and Samsung fans can look to the Galaxy Fit E for a smart band option. So Huawei will have to bring a lot to the table with the Band 4 Pro if it wants to take a tasty bite of the market.
The render, published by 91mobiles, shows the upcoming Huawei Band 4 Pro with a black case and black strap, black case with a red strap, and a rose-gold case with a pink strap red, and it’s presumed the straps can be changed. The tracker unit itself looks very similar to its predecessor, so the main changes are likely to have been made to the specifications rather than the design.
Rumors about the Huawei Band 4 Pro’s features include an AMOLED screen, heart-rate sensor, and potentially a USB port for charging that is hidden in the strap. The Huawei Band 3 Pro uses a proprietary two-pin charging port, so the change to USB charging would be a welcome move forward if this particular rumor ends up being accurate. Currently, there’s no news about the release date and price for the Huawei Band 4 Pro.
