Asus ROG Zephyrus M16 GU605MY spotted with Meteor Lake Core Ultra 9 185H and RTX 4090 ^↺

Earlier this year, we tested the Asus ROG Zephyrus M16 featuring the Intel Core i9-13900H and Nvidia GeForce RTX 4090 Laptop GPU. Intel is all set to officially unveil the Meteor Lake generation in the next few days, and it looks like the Zephyrus M16 will get a taste of the new silicon as well.

Known leaker @momomo_us on X has spotted references to a ROG Zephyrus M16 GU605MY powered by the Meteor Lake Core Ultra 9 185H processor. Similar to the current version, the upcoming Zephyrus M16 upgrade will also offer a 16-inch WQXGA (2560 x 1600) panel. It's most likely the same 240 Hz mini-LED we've seen before, although definitive confirmation is still pending.

Meteor Lake's Foveros 3D packaging allows for embedding 16 GB LPDDR5x-7500 RAM on-package. Unlike the current Zephyrus M16, which supports up to 64 GB of DDR5-4800 memory expansion, the Core Ultra 9 185H upgrade comes in both 16 GB and 32 GB LPDDR5x configs. It is not clear if the 16 GB variant would feature memory on-package but if so, the 120 GB/s memory bandwidth may offset some upgradability concerns.

This is just speculation, though. We will have to wait till the official announcements to see if this becomes a trend among high-end Meteor Lake offerings in 2024.

Powering the Zephyrus M16's display will be the Nvidia GeForce RTX 4090 Laptop GPU. There's also a 1 TB SSD in the offing.

For those not in the know, the Core Ultra 9 belongs to what Intel calls "Leadership offerings" in the Meteor Lake lineup. The Core Ultra 9 185H is a 16-core (6+8+2) 22-thread part with purported boosts up to 5.1 GHz. Meteor Lake is based on the Intel 4 process and uses a combination of new Redwood Cove Performance cores and Crestmont Efficiency cores.

The tiled architecture of Meteor Lake allows Intel to place two of the E-cores in the SoC tile to take care of background tasks and those that can make do with low power. Check out our Meteor Lake overview article for more information.
