A few months have now passed since reports about price increases for Apple's iPhone lineup first surfaced online. Originating from The Wall Street Journal, the rumour suggested that Apple would link any price rises to new designs and features rather than the recent escalation in the China-United States trade war.
Now, Jefferies Hong Kong Limited analyst Edison Lee has provided concrete details about how these reported price changes could impact this year' iPhone 17 series. For context, the iPhone 16 starts at $799 (curr. $689.99 - renewed on Amazon), with $100 increments separating the iPhone 16 Plus and iPhone 16 Pro. By contrast, the iPhone 16 Pro Max retails for $200 more than the iPhone 16 Pro at $1,199 before factoring in any discounts.
According to Lee, Apple's entry-level model will not receive any uplifts this year. As a result, the iPhone 17 should match the iPhone 16 with $799 launch pricing. Conversely, the iPhone 17 Air, iPhone 17 Pro and iPhone 17 Pro Max are said to retail for $50 more than their respective predecessors. It is worth stressing that Apple may pursue different pricing strategies for other markets. At any rate, the resulting changes should see the iPhone 17 lineup arriving at the following price points this September:
- Apple iPhone 17 - $799
- Apple iPhone 17 Air - $949
- Apple iPhone 17 Pro - $1,049
- Apple iPhone 17 Pro Max - $1,249
