Anycubic Photon Mono 2 launches as an upgraded 3D resin printer for beginners
Anycubic backs its new Photon Mono 2 to supplant even its predecessor the Mono 4K as the "perfect choice" of those interested in their use-case. The 2 devices are rated to take up more or less the same amount of space; however, the newer model is also touted to come with "several significant improvements" that make it the ideal entry-level 3D resin printer.
They include an upgraded version of Anycubic's LighTurbo UV system for the material, rated to contribute to "fine and smooth prints" by avoiding the uneven distribution of radiation associated with older 3D printers. It works with a 6.6-inch "4K+" LCD mask, rated for an output equating to a resolution of 4096 x 2560, as opposed to 3840 x 2400 in the Mono 4K, for final prints with sharper and clearer details.
They will be laid down on a build platform laser-etched with a texture to help ensure that a print stays on its surface from the very first layer. It is part of a usable area within its shield that has grown by 20% compared to that of the Mono 4K.
All in all, the Mono2 is touted as the ideal starter 3D resin printer without the potential teething issues of older models. It will be priced at US$199 through channels such as Amazon or Best Buy as well as its first-party sales page from May 5, 2023 in the US, and is already available in Europe for €209, albeit on anycubic.com only.
