Android 16-based Xiaomi HyperOS 3 beta program reportedly kicking off in August 2025

A recent report suggested that Xiaomi has stopped working on HyperOS 2, and the company has reportedly shifted its focus to the next version, which suggests there will be no more significant Android 15-based updates for the eligible phones. As for the upcoming major Android 16 update, the company will seemingly start the beta testing in August 2025.

This new report comes from Digital Chat Station, a reliable Weibo tipster. The leakster also hints that Xiaomi won't be the only company conducting beta testing of the Android 16-based update this month. More specifically, the leaker mentions that "various companies" will start their beta program for their Android 16 update at the same time frame.

While Xiaomi has yet to officially share details about HyperOS 3, per recent reports, it will introduce a more intuitive interface, and the UI is expected to get a notable overhaul. The reports have also suggested that the Android 16 update for Xiaomi phones will bring smoother transitions and improved overall system responsiveness.

As with any other major software updates, the Xiaomi HyperOS 3 update is also expected to have "enhanced" resource management, offering faster overall system performance. The system stability will likely improve too.

Regarding the supported devices, there's still no official word on which phones will be compatible with Xiaomi HyperOS 3.
