Alldocube iPlay 70 mini Ultra may never get an Android OS update
The Alldocube iPlay 70 mini Ultra is a compact 8.8-inch tablet with an LTPS display, Snapdragon 7+ Gen 3 processor, 12 GB RAM and 256 GB storage, expandable via microSD. The dark grey aluminium unibody case weighs 335 g and offers a display-to-surface ratio of 83%. The workmanship appears high-quality, but waves may appear when strong pressure is applied. It has USB 3.2 with image output and a powerful but imprecise vibration motor; biometric unlocking methods are missing.
The cameras deliver only basic results: front camera in Full HD (30 FPS) for video calls, main camera for documentation purposes in good light, Ultra HD video recording possible. The display offers sharp, high-contrast but cool saturated colours. The brightness is sufficient for indoor and shaded areas, but the minimum brightness is a little high.
The device still runs on Google Android 14 and Alldocube OS 3.0L. The manufacturer does not make any update commitments; according to the energy label, five years of support are planned. Security updates were up to date at the time of testing (5 June 2025). There have been no clear statements on update support so far. Upon request, Alldocube confirmed that it intends to comply with EU regulations, but to their knowledge, major version updates are not necessarily part of the directive. Buyers can therefore at least expect a long supply of security patches in the EU, but it is uncertain whether Android 15 or newer versions will make it onto the tablet. For non-EU markets, the statement is still vague: "Similarly, outside the EU, we continue to provide bug fixes and software updates wherever possible." We expect significantly shorter software support in these markets.
