Acer Nitro V 16 and Nitro V 16S show up after a two-year hiatus with Core 9 270H and RTX 5070 Laptop GPU

Acer first introduced the Nitro V 16 back in 2023 as the first Ryzen 8040 series gaming laptop. Now, at IFA 2025, Acer is upgrading the Nitro V 16 with Intel Raptor Lake-H and Nvidia Blackwell RTX 50 Laptop chips.

The Acer Nitro V 16 comes in two variants: the Nitro V 16 (ANV16-72) and the Nitro V 16S (ANV16S-71). Both models are largely identical save for the fact that the Nitro V 16S is slimmer at 13.9 mm (0.55 inches) thickness and weighs 2.1 kg while the regular Nitro V 16 is slightly thicker at 16.1 mm (0.63 inches) and tips the scales at 2.4 kg.

The other visible difference is in terms of keyboard backlighting. The new Nitro V 16 uses the same orange accented backlight we've seen with the original Nitro V 16 while the Nitro V 16S uses an RGB backlit keyboard.

Both the Nitro V 16 and the Nitro V 16S feature the Intel Core 9 270H, which is a Raptor Lake-H part with 6 P-cores and 8 E-cores, and the Nvidia GeForce RTX 5070 Laptop GPU. Acer hasn't specified TGP differences for the RTX 5070 Laptop, if any, between the Nitro V 16 and the Nitro V 16S.

The Nitro V 16 offers three 16-inch 16:10 display options including 2,560x1,600 180 Hz and 1,920x1,200 180 Hz, both of which are rated to cover 100% of the sRGB color space and offer 3 ms gray-to-gray response times. Buyers can also configure the Nitro V 16 with an entry-level 1,920x1,200 180 Hz 45% NTSC (approx. 63% sRGB) panel — this is not offered with the Nitro V 16S.

Port selection is identical between the Nitro V 16 and the Nitro V 16S and that includes 3x USB Type-A, 1x Thunderbolt 4, HDMI 2.1-out, a microSD card reader, Gigabit RJ-45 Ethernet, a 3.5 mm combo audio jack, and a 720p webcam. Killer DoubleShot Pro Wi-Fi 6 with Bluetooth 5.2 and Killer Ethernet E2600 handle the networking.

Curiously, Acer hasn't mentioned battery life or capacity on these models.

The Acer Nitro V 16 (ANV16-72) will be available in North America in October and in the EMEA from November at prices starting from $999.99 and €1,299, respectively.

The Acer Nitro V 16S (ANV16S-71) will be available in North American and EMEA from November starting from $1,099.99 and €1,399, respectively. The laptop will also be available in Australia from September starting at AU$2,599.
