Yesterday, Nvidia released its latest Game Ready Driver, which it is distributing as 581.29. Replacing 581.15 from the end of August, 581.29 brings a few overarching highlights on the face of it.
Specifically, Nvidia emphasises that its new update optimises currently supported GPUs for Dying Light: The Beast and Borderlands 4 (curr. $69 on Amazon) in time for their releases later this month. To that end, Nvidia will support both games with DLSS 4, Multi Frame Generation and Ray Tracing from launch day. For reference, while 2K and Telltale Games will release Borderlands 4 tomorrow, Dying Light: The Beast is not due to arrive until September 19.
As always, Nvidia's latest driver includes bug fixes like one for Marvel Rivals, where some 581.xx drivers could cause performance issues. For some reason, the company decided against detailing what could be the biggest improvement with 581.29.
In subsequent Discord and Reddit posts, Nvidia representatives have confirmed that 581.29 fixes an issue that resulted in 'performance degradation over time' on laptops running with Optimus mode enabled. Apparently, Nvidia had intended to include this fix but then omitted it from its 581.15 driver release. From an early inspection, it looks like 581.29 resolves this bug fully.
