Abxylute has revealed a prototype of its upcoming snap-on magnetic game controller for smartphones in its Discord channel. The game controller swivels and slides open for use, allowing it to maintain a stealth profile behind the phone until use.
The Abxylute snap-on device has a standard array of controls, including the direction pad, xyab/start/stop buttons, rear triggers, and dual analog sticks. The layout is targeted at retro gaming, but different layouts will be considered if demand exists.
The unit mounts to phones with a magnetic accessory attachment system, like the Apple MagSafe, and adapters for phones without such are planned. The unit connects to phones over Bluetooth and can also be used as a wireless controller. A bottom USB-C port charges its internal battery.
No price has been announced, but Abxylute suggests it will be quite affordable when it launches in mid-October 2025.
