AOC is about to launch a new high-resolution monitor, the K27U3D to be more exact. This 27-inch display offers a resolution of 5120 x 2880 pixels, which should result in a very sharp picture quality and plenty of work space for multitasking. According to the manufacturer, the monitor also has a gray-to-gray response time of 4 milliseconds, which could make it suitable for gaming. However, the refresh rate is limited to 70Hz, so demanding gamers may not find the K27U3D to be adequate, even though FreeSync is supported. Alternatively, there are many 4K monitors with higher refresh rates available on Amazon.
AOC further opted for an IPS panel with a typical contrast ratio of 2,000:1 and a typical brightness of 500 nits in SDR or up to 600 nits in HDR. According to the spec sheet, the monitor fully covers the sRGB color space with a color accuracy of Delta E < 1. In principle, this makes the 5K monitor suitable for image and video editing. However, users will have to do so without an integrated colorimeter, so it is not necessarily a monitor for professional creators.
That being said, the remaining set of features is extensive. The AOC K27U3D comes with HDMI 2.1, DisplayPort 1.4 and USB Type-C. The latter transmits video signals but can also power the connected laptop or other devices. Additionally, there’s a USB hub with multiple USB Type-A ports, which makes it easy to connect peripherals like a mouse and keyboard.
More USB ports, both Type-A and Type-C, can be found on the side of the monitor, just like the usual 3.5mm audio jack. A KVM switch is included as well and assigns the mouse and keyboard when switching between devices. Speakers are built in, and the ergonomic stand offers a pivot function. At the time of writing, there are no details regarding pricing or an official launch date.
