This Geekbench test was performed on a 2.7 GHz Radeon 780M integrated with the Ryzen 7 7840HS APU, but there also is a 2.8 GHz version on the Ryzen 9 7940H that could come close to an Nvidia GTX 1650 Ti laptop dGPU.

The Radeon 780M GPU integrated in the upcoming Ryzen 7040 Phoenix mobile processors from AMD has been spotted in Geekbench running the OpenCL test. Granted, this type of test may not accurately reflect real-world performance for a GPU, but synthetic test results still give a rough performance estimate when compared to other existing models.

From what we can see in the Geekbench database entry, the RDNA3-based Radeon 780M is bundled with the Ryzen 7 7840HS APU, yet, for some reason, only 6 compute units were identified instead of 12 as indicated by AMD’s product page. The core appears to be running at 2.7 GHz, more than 300 Mhz faster than the previous gen 680M.

Performance-wise, the 780M managed to score 36757 points in the OpenCL test. That definitely puts it ahead of any previous gen 680M that can score up to 34K points on a top-of-the-line R9 6900HX. However, we know there will be the 7940H SKU that comes with a 780M clocked at 2.8 GHz, so we could see scores closer to 40K in that case. With the 36.7K score, the 780M is right between the GTX 1650 Max-Q (lower TGP) and the GTX 1650 Ti laptop dGPUs. The 2.8 GHz 780M version could thus be very close to the GTX 1650 Ti, which is not bad at all for an iGPU.

AMD should launch the Ryzen 7040 Phoenix APU lineup next month, and we will make sure to publish comprehensive tests for the 780M by then.
