It's been over 25 years since The Sims was unveiled to the world. And this game was a huge success with players, as it is possible to see on Metacritic, where it has a score of 92. But while other games of the franchise were released later, a fan decided to give a second life to this title with the help of Unreal Engine 5.
Thus, it is Adam does GameDev who decided to embark on this quite specific project. And if today many remakes are made with the help of Unreal Engine 5, he wanted to show his community all the details concerning his work, whether it be the progress or the problems he had to face.
But it is not just a visual remake, because he rebuilt this game from scratch while keeping the spirit of The Sims. First, he revealed the construction of Bob Newbie's property, showing the environment, the foundations of the house, and the various decorations with objects for the interior and exterior.
Finally, in a second video, he recreates Bob Newbie with the help of Unreal Engine 5 and the result is quite impressive, because this remake looks like modern games. The graphics are closer to those of today and that the lights are more realistic, which offers a pleasant look.
However, while all this may make you want to play The Sims again, there is some bad news to consider. Adam does GameDev make it clear at the end of his video that this project is essentially for fun and learning, and he has no intention of selling or distributing it in any form.
