Reviews for the Vivo X Fold2

The Vivo X Fold 2 is a confident foldable that combines strong performance, impressive battery life, and a capable camera. There are downsides. The leather finish looks the part, but the foldable as a whole is bigger and bulkier than other recent rivals. As it’s China-only you’ll have to deal with awkward imports and no Google out of the box, plus other little performance annoyances around background apps or that strange failure of the ultrawide camera in low light. Still, put up with those minor headaches and this is a pretty fantastic foldable that shows Samsung what it has to keep up with.

The Vivo X Fold 2 feels about as great as a foldable phone should with its big cover screen and massive main display. Performance doesn't disappoint, as it keeps up with the best Android phones. If it weren't for limited availability and a surprising downgrade in the camera, this could have been the best foldable phone of the year.

In conclusion, The vivo X Fold 2 is an exceptional device that successfully bridges the gap between smartphones and tablets. Its foldable design is not just a gimmick; it’s a genuinely useful feature that enhances productivity and entertainment. However, it’s essential to consider the cost. The vivo X Fold 2 is a premium device, and its price reflects that. It’s not for everyone, but for those who are willing to invest in a cutting-edge piece of technology, it’s one of the best foldable phones out there. In China it’s the 256GB variant is available for CNY 8,999, and CNY 9,999 for the 512GB configuration; which roughly converts to PHP 68,700 and PHP 76,000. At the end of the day, the vivo X Fold2 is not without its flaws. The crease in the display is still visible, though it’s not a deal-breaker especially for early foldable adopters.

Vivo definitely outdid itself with the X Fold2. It's by far one of the best foldables we've used as it stands out with exceptional displays (even the internal screen has a smaller-than-usual crease), great battery life, nice hinge design and not one but two ultrasonic fingerprint readers that work flawlessly. We find that last bit a huge advantage over the current side-mounted readers in today's foldables. The overall camera experience isn't bad either. It's not ideal, but it's mostly on par with what the competition offers. We would have liked a better selfie and further zoom reach (3x at least), but otherwise, the quality is solid during the day and at night. We also wished for a better stereo speaker setup, although we understand that not everyone would mind the speakers as they are.

The vivo X Flip might be the best clamshell foldable if you value the camera experience, while the X Fold 2 brings some unique features to the book-style form factor. Sadly, with limited availability you'll have to jump through a lot of hoops to get your hands on them.

Vivo X Fold 2 has some factors which are better than the mainstream brands, including a powerful chipset, better camera software, Zeiss optics, and a few more things here and there. This phone is a great combination of camera and performance with a foldable screen experience. Overall, if you want to purchase a premium foldable phone with great camera quality, we would consider choosing this phone over the Samsung Galaxy Z Fold 4 for now. But if we consider the downsides, the phone won’t have anything that would severely impact the users day to day usage. However, you can still consider the downgrade since the company removes the periscope 5x optical zoom lens compared to the last year’s models like Vivo X Fold and Vivo X Fold Plus. But still, we would highly recommend you choose this phone if you want an exceptional foldable phone experience at an appropriate price tag.

The Vivo X Fold 2 is the newest foldable on the market, and I'm a bit disappointed by it — although to be fair, I have the highest standards when it comes to foldables. The X Fold 2 packs a Snapdragon 8 Gen 2, two OLED screens (6.5-inch and 8-inch) with 120Hz refresh rate. There's a 4,800 mAh battery and a triple camera system headlined by a 50MP Sony IMX866 main camera. To be fair, the Vivo X Fold 2 holds up quite well against the Galaxy Z Fold 4. I'm just spoiled by the Huawei Mate X3 and Xiaomi Mix Fold 2.

Qualcomm Adreno 740: Graphics chip for smartphones and tablets that is integrated within the Qualcomm Snapdragon 8 Gen 2 SoC. Qualcomm claims that it is 25% faster than the Adreno 730 in the Snapdragon 8 Gen 1 and first benchmarks show that the GPU can beat the Apple A16 iGPU (previously the fastest smartphone GPU).
Modern games should be playable with these graphics cards at low settings and resolutions. Casual gamers may be happy with these cards.

SD 8 Gen 2: High-end SoC for smartphones that was introduced in late 2022 with a fast prime core based on a ARM Cortex-X3 architecture clocked at up to 3.2 GHz. Two more performance cores are based on the A715 and also support only 64 bit applications. The two additional A710 cores support also 32 bit applications as do the power saving Cortex-A510 cores. In addition to the processor cores, the SoC integrates a WiFi 7 modem, a Hexagon DSP (for AI acceleration) and a Spectra ISP. The integrated memory controller supports fast LPDDR5x memory with up to 4,200 MHz. 5G is included in the chip with the Snapdragon X70 modem.» Further information can be found in our Comparison of Mobile Processsors.

Large smartphones and a few small tablets are available for this display size. Unlike most smartphones, you can see more on the screen, more details and use larger resolutions. Such formats are better for people with defective vision. However, such devices are no longer easy to fit in a pocket, and they are probably not quite light either.
» To find out how fine a display is, see our DPI List.84.33%: This rating is slightly above average, there are somewhat more devices with worse ratings. However, clear purchase recommendations look different.
