NVIDIA has announced the Jetson Xavier NX that can deliver up to 21 TOPS of computing power for AI applications on the edge. The Jetson Xavier NX is powered by a 384 CUDA and 48 Tensor core Volta GPU and a 6-core Carmel ARM CPU. The entire computer is no bigger than a credit card and will be available in March 2020 for just US$399.

Earlier this week, NVIDIA announced that it is introducing a new addition to its Jetson family, the Jetson Xavier NX. The Jetson Xavier NX is being touted as the "world's smallest, most powerful AI supercomputer for robotic and embedded computing devices at the edge". The Xavier NX can output 21 TOPS of performance using just 15 W of power (14 TOPS at 10 W) in a size no more than a 70 x 45 mm credit card.

The Jetson Xavier NX uses the same CUDA-X AI and HPC libraries as other Jetson products, which means developers can continue building their machines using an already familiar architecture. The Xavier NX also supports the NVIDIA JetPack SDK, which is a complete AI and deep learning software stack. NVIDIA showed off a few performance numbers in which the Xavier NX aced across popular neural networks thanks to the NVIDIA Volta GPU with 384 CUDA cores and 48 Tensor cores and a 6-core NVIDIA Carmel ARM CPU.

The Jetson Xavier NX is compatible with many peripherals and sensors and offers a good selection of IOs. NVIDIA says that the Xavier NX is pin-compatible with the Jetson Nano so you can directly upgrade to the NX on a compatible carrier board. Support for AI frameworks such as TensorFlow, PyTorch, MxNet, Caffee, etc. in built-in.

The Jetson Xavier NX will be available from March 2020 for US$399. Developers can also emulate the Xavier NX right away using a software patch for the Jetson AGX Xavier Developer Kit.
