According to a report, the Galaxy S22 Ultra may not be the camera behemoth that past rumours and leaks suggested. Instead, the reality could be more run of the mill and nothing to get excited about if you already own a Galaxy S21 Ultra.

Samsung is expected to reveal the Galaxy S22 series early next year with the Snapdragon 898 and Exynos 2200 chipsets. While the Galaxy S22 and Galaxy S22+ are thought to offer substantial camera improvements over its predecessors, the Galaxy S22 Ultra may not. For reference, the Galaxy S22 and Galaxy S22+ are currently believed to feature 50 MP camera sensors.

According to GalaxyClub, Samsung will equip the Galaxy S22 Ultra with a periscope camera and a telephoto camera, both utilising 10 MP sensors. The Dutch website states that the former will support 10x optical zoom, matching the Galaxy S21 Ultra. However, it is unsure of the second 10 MP sensor's magnification. Speculatively, GalaxyClub would not be surprised if this telephoto camera also offered 3x zoom.

In short, the Galaxy S22 Ultra may have the same zoom cameras as its predecessor. Presumably, the Galaxy S22 Ultra will surpass the Galaxy S21 Ultra in other areas, such as with the Exynos 2200, an SoC that will feature an AMD RDNA 2-based GPU
