iPhone SE 2: Leaked iPhone 4.7" 2020 case sparks rumours of an April 5 launch
Rumours about the iPhone SE 2 have been circulating a lot recently, with iGeeksBlog recently claiming to have received information that the upcoming device will start at US$349, US$50 cheaper than we previously thought. Set to feature 3 GB of RAM, an A13 Bionic SoC and up to 256 GB of storage, Apple is said to be returning to the design of the iPhone 8 for the iPhone SE 2.
Rumoured to be launching in around two weeks, the arrival of case inventory at retailers like BestBuy suggests that Apple could have moved this launch date forward a few days. According to 9to5Mac and MacRumors, sources have informed them that BestBuy employees have been told not to merchandise these case until April 5, this Sunday.
While 9to5Mac implies that multiple cases have been sent to retailers, only a photo of an Urban Armor Gear Monarch Series case has been published so far. Designed for the "New iPhone 4.7", 2020", there is no indication that Apple will give the device such a name. However, MacRumors asserts that it is commonplace for case manufacturers to include a non-specific device name before said device launches.
As expected, the case looks almost identical to the equivalent for the iPhone 8. While there a few visual tweaks, the rear-facing camera aperture matches that of the iPhone 8 case, reinforcing that Apple will equip the iPhone SE 2 with a single rear-facing camera.
