HTC unveils the Desire 310 Android smartphone

The new HTC handset has a 4.5 inch screen, 1.3 GHz quad-core processor, comes loaded with Android 4.2 Jelly Bean and will hit the Taiwanese market next month.

HTC has just unveiled the Desire 310, a quad-core smartphone that runs Android 4.2 Jelly Bean out of the box and brings "seamless multi-tasking, smooth browsing and effortless video creation to the entry-level market."

According to Peter Chou, CEO of HTC Corporation "The latest addition to our renowned HTC Desire range combines super-fast processing and premium features at a lower price, offering users the best possible experience in this category."

While HTC did not reveal all the specs of this handset yet, GSMArena already listed the following details:

  • Processor: 1.3 GHz quad-core Cortex-A7 with Mali-400 graphics (Mediatek MT6582M)
  • Memory/Storage: 1 GB RAM; 4 GB internal storage and microSD support up to 32 GB
  • Display: 4.5-inch TFT capacitive with 480X854 pixels and 218 ppi
  • Cameras: VGA front, 5 MP with 1080p video shooting, face detection and geo-tagging in the back
  • Connectivity: 3G, WiFi 802.11 b/g/n with Hotspot, Bluetooth 4.0 with A2DP, micro USB 2.0, GPS with A-GPS and GLONASS
  • Operating system: Android 4.2.2 Jelly Bean
  • Battery/Autonomy: Li-ion 2,000 mAh; up to 11 hours talk time and 852 hours standby

The handset features the BlinkFeed home screen introduced with the HTC One, as well as Video Highlights. According to the press release available below, the HTC Desire 310 will arrive on the Taiwanese market next month, but CNet claims it will arrive in the UK during April as well. Unfortunately, pricing and availability in the US are still unknown.
