devolo's new home networking solution, Magic, is a form of mesh WiFi that also uses Powerline technology. It does so using next-generation G.hn chips and new, AC-adapter mesh points. devolo claims that this combination can drastically increase domestic WiFi speeds.

devolo is at IFA this year to announce the next generation of their home WiFi solutions. It is a take on the mesh WiFi concept called Magic. devolo has integrated Powerline technology into these devices. The company claims that this could increase speeds in the home to as much as 2.4 gigabits per second (Gbps), compared to the more conventional 1.2Gbps.

This can apparently be achieved through the use of devolo's next-generation G.hn architecture. Combined with Powerline, it can be used to set up a devolo Magic mesh network within minutes by just plugging adapters into different power sockets around the house. This can be done using devolo's new Home Network app.

The company claims that a Magic home network can support the playback of numerous 4K or 8K videos in the same house at the same time. devolo Magic is also described as capable of balancing demand between quicker and slower (or older and newer) devices to prevent bottlenecks; conversely, it can also optimize channels and frequencies for all devices connected to one of its networks. devolo have not yet mentioned what one of these "high-end" adapter sets would cost, however.
