Reviews for the Zepto Nox A15

While the Nox A15 is a power user’s notebook, and shouldn’t be expected to have the most impressive battery life, we were quite happy with the results of our DVD run down, in which the Nox A15 lasted a good two hours and 15 minutes. Our model included a 9-cell battery at extra cost, so consider this when opting to upgrade or not. This test is considered a worst-case scenario of sorts, due to the high strain on the battery, and subsequently you should expect to see longer battery life under normal circumstances.

It's a well-made laptop that disappoints slightly on the benchmarks. But the fact is that you're getting a very nice bit of kit which will chow down on most games, provided you keep the settings in the mid-range. Yes, it's a little under a grand, but the Nox A15 will function admirably as a desktop replacement. And being able to play games like GRID on the train is just plain awesome, If a little nauseating.

An excellent performer, but you'll be paying extra for the admittedly great design of this laptop.

Zepto's aesthetically-pleasing Nox A15 uses Intel's Core 2 mobile CPU and NVIDIA GeForce 9600M GT graphics card to create a decent-performing 15.4in notebook that does most things well. Performance is good across the board, and the discrete graphics card makes a decent fist of gaming at the excellent screen's native resolution of 1,680x1,050. There isn't a lot we can say that will detract from the attractiveness of the Nox A15: it's competent. However, as much good as there is here, a couple of noisome factors cause it to not quite reach recommended status.

We like the Zepto Nox A15. We're big fans of its matte black finish and curved edges, and even bigger fans of its performance and customisability. If you want something a little different to the Dells and Acers of this world, then you could do far worse.

Comment
NVIDIA GeForce 9600M GT: Successor of the 8600M GT and because of the smaller 65nm production process the card is higher clocked (and therefore faster) with the same current consumption.Furthermore, it features an improved video processor (VP3) and HybridPower to save current (in conjunction with the 9100M G).
Non demanding games should be playable with these graphics cards.

Intel Core 2 Duo: This is the Core Duo and Core Solo successor with a longer pipeline and 5-20% more speed without more power consumption. As an addition to the Core Duo design there exists a fourth decoder, an amplified SSE-unit and an additional arithmetical logical unit (ALU).
The Core 2 Duo for laptops is identical to the desktop Core 2 Duo processors but the notebook-processors work with lower voltages (0.95 to 1188 Volt) and a lower Frontside bus clock (1066 vs 667 MHz). The performance of equally clocked notebooks is 20-25% lower than Desktop PCs because of the lower Frontside bus clock and the slower hard disks.
P8400:
Middle class dual core CPU with a TDP of 25 Watt. For high end gamer the performance could be not sufficient (for class 1 graphic cards).

15-inch display variants are the standard and are used for more than half of all laptops.
The reason for the popularity of mid-sized displays is that this size is reasonably easy on the eyes, often allows high resolutions and thus offers rich details on the screen, yet does not consume too much power and the devices can still be reasonably compact - simply the standard compromise.
» To find out how fine a display is, see our DPI List.2.7 kg:
With this weight, a laptop is rather heavier than average. Devices in this range shine more with screen size and performance than with mobility.
Zepto: Danish Zepto was established in 2002 with the purpose of supplying information technology products for Mobile Electronics and Digital Home. Today Zepto is Europe’s largest local manufacturer of notebook PC’s (if you count the producing factories in Turkey to Europe) and is represented in 19 countries. Zepto is a small Danish laptop manufacturer with a low market share in Europe. Starting with 2007, some laptop reviews for Zepto notebooks have been published, especially in Central Europe.
78.2%: This rating is not earth-shattering. This rating must actually be seen as average, since there are about as many devices with worse ratings as better ones. A purchase recommendation can only be seen with a lot of goodwill, unless it is about websites that generally rate strictly.
