Archive.org versionWhile it’s targeted at gamers, the extensive memory (4GB) and fast CPU make this a killer machine for demanding productivity applications. Unfortunately, it’s not quite the gaming powerhouse that MSI would have you believe, but for the more casual gamers out there it’ll do the job. Still, if we had two grand to blow and needed both a gaming machine and something we could take on the road, we'd be inclined to buy a budget laptop and a SFF PC for just a few dollars more.

Archive.org versionBuying a gaming notebook is always a balancing act — on the one hand, should one spend more money and get a major kick-butt gaming notebook, or spend just enough to get a machine that you can play some current games on. The problem is that no matter how good your gaming notebook is now, it’s not going to be able to play games that will be coming out a year-and-a-half from now. Such is the case for the MSI GX620 — in reality, it’s actually a good example of a very capable gaming notebook and one that can play most last-generation games well, but not all current generation games.

Archive.org versionFinally, the speaker quality is what you would expect from a notebook - pretty poor. However using the 7.1 channel SPDIF audio output and a good speaker system, the speaker quality is fairly trival. Besides, what self respecting gamer doesn’t use headphones anyway?

NVIDIA GeForce 9600M GT: Successor of the 8600M GT and because of the smaller 65nm production process the card is higher clocked (and therefore faster) with the same current consumption.Furthermore, it features an improved video processor (VP3) and HybridPower to save current (in conjunction with the 9100M G).
Non demanding games should be playable with these graphics cards.

Intel Core 2 Duo: This is the Core Duo and Core Solo successor with a longer pipeline and 5-20% more speed without more power consumption. As an addition to the Core Duo design there exists a fourth decoder, an amplified SSE-unit and an additional arithmetical logical unit (ALU).
The Core 2 Duo for laptops is identical to the desktop Core 2 Duo processors but the notebook-processors work with lower voltages (0.95 to 1188 Volt) and a lower Frontside bus clock (1066 vs 667 MHz). The performance of equally clocked notebooks is 20-25% lower than Desktop PCs because of the lower Frontside bus clock and the slower hard disks.
P7350:
Entry level Core 2 Duo processor with 3 MB Level 2 Cache and due to the 25 Watt TDP also suited for 13" laptops.
