ZTE Nubia Red Magic gaming smartphone revealed in leaked pictures
Even though the smartphone world is getting ready for the foldable device craze, the hottest trend right now is probably represented by gaming handsets. Razer was first to release a dedicated gaming smartphone in late 2017 and earlier this year a few other companies like Asus and Huawei subsidiary Black Shark announced that they are working on gaming handsets as well. The latest leaks point out that ZTE is also ready to jump on the gaming handset bandwagon with a Nubia device called Red Magic.
Leaked on Weibo just yesterday, the Nubia Red Magic picture comes in a low resolution, but it is still clear enough for spotting the most relevant features. This handset appears to be sporting a non-notched Infinity Display with slim upper/lower bezels and 2:1 aspect ratio. The right side features power and volume buttons, plus a mysterious red key that is most likely related to gaming sessions.
The back of the phone is showing what appears to be an RGB LED strip together with a unique case design optimized for improved dual hand grip in landscape mode. Above the LED strip there is a fingerprint scanner and a single camera with LED flash.
According to the latest rumors, the internal hardware would include a Snapdragon 845 SoC and 8 GB of RAM, however, now that ZTE is not getting access to Qualcomm’s hardware anymore, the specs might be different. In any case, the Nubia Red magic handset is expected to be officially revealed on April 19, the same day the Honor 10 will be unveiled.
