Development cycle for the next Axon will be significantly shorter.

It hasn't even been a month since ZTE announced its high-end Axon smartphone for the US market, but the company has already confirmed the development of its successor via a recent interview.

According to ZTE, development on the original Axon lasted for roughly 18 months. The Axon 2 is expected to take less time in comparison and will instead be more similar to the Axon Mini and Axon Lux. These Axon variants will launch in territories outside of Asia as well. The Axon Watch, however, may still be exclusive to Asia as it uses a special and almost proprietary Chinese operating system.

The ZTE Axon is coming this August for approximately 410 Euros and includes a 5.5-inch 2560 x 1440 resolution display, metal chassis, rear 13 MP camera, and an octa-core Snapdragon 810 SoC. The manufacturer is currently focusing on North American and Asian markets with these new products for now, so there is no word yet on a potential European launch.
